| Keep Out! The signs will warn you all along the north side of Placerita Canyon road - next to Disney's famous Golden Oak Ranch. Situated just off of the 14 in Newhall, California (right next to Santa Clarita) sits the Ranch, and the reason why we care, is because Disney's Golden Oak Ranch is the location of Marty's "descent" if you will, into 1955. As a matter of fact, Marty crashes right into the ranch's "Ragwing barn." It's not a very long scene, and more important to us all is the scene right after, where Marty sees the site of the future Lyon Estates.
But because the site is completely off limits to the public - and we mean Period, No exceptions, EVER - it makes the location that much more interesting. And thanks to Bill Cotter of BillCotter.com, Bruce Gordon, and later, Wesley Treat, we know that we can see the Ragwing barn from a turnout off Placerita Canyon road between the freeway and the State park further down the road. So in fact, we can technically visit the peabody farm - albiet from a distance. And what a distance. In our downloadable tour Guide, this will not be featured as a stop, because it is so far out of the way for so little.
But for the Hard-Core, Die-Hard, Do-Whatever-It-Takes Back to the Future fan, you will remember that as Marty flees the ranch in the DeLorean he comes off of a dirt road and back out onto pavement just after he runs over that tree. Well that pavement is public property, baby! The gate Marty flees through is actually one of the many gated entrances to the ranch, and the exit into Placerita Canyon Rd is the same spot from which you can get your only legal peek at the other sets on the ranch.
This is not recommended for people with a time restriction for their BTTF viewings, or people who can't entertain themselves while driving in between locations. Compared to the other SoCal locations... this one's out there.
