This location is on private property, enter at your own risk!
This has to be one of the greatest locations for any back to the future fan to visit! If you love what the 80's movie gateway calls "Movie Archaeology" you will LOVE this site! Marty, after being shot at on the Peabody's Twin Pines Ranch, pulls over and can't believe his eyes... It's his future home! Only... it's not built yet! So we arrive at the Lyon Estates - in 1955!

Though it seems a short stretch down the road from the farm in the movie, this spot is about 70 miles away in the southernmost part of Chino, California. Technically, this is private property, but luckily for all of us BTTF fans, they open up the gates every fair-weathered weekend for R/C plane flights in a nearby field.

When you get to chino (click the links above to get directions) make sure you continue down Chino-Corona road. The road will actually continue to the left, but keep going straight, until you see the gates with the "PRIVATE PROPERTY" sign. It's just beyond. This is farm country, so although you technically take a legal risk (mind you, this is your OWN legal risk) passing the gate when closed, the site is only a few yards beyond the gate and I'm sure no one will mind if you explain that you're just there to take a few photos. If anyone sees you at all, which I doubt.

Actually, on our most recent trip, we had a chance to speak to the caretaker's wife, who told us that it's ok to be back there (on the road only mind you, not in their fields) to take photos etc, but she did think the idea was a little nuts, and she warned us that if, in fact, you find the gate open on a weekday, to be careful parking your car out of sight of them, because there's a chance you could be locked in!

However, avoid the possibilty of trouble altogether and try and make it early (I reccomend 10am) on a Saturday or a Sunday. Very little has changed here, other than some added gates and fences, and there's even some gravel left by the production crew! (See photos below!)

The road back to Hill Valley in 1955 (BTTF p1)

Compare this stitched Photo our friend Brian Montez sends us with the photo above. You actually have to walk further down the road towards the airplane field to get the right angle. We've known it for quite some time, but since we were unsure who's property the road lies on once it goes to gravel (the paved section is maintained Dairy farm) - we didn't want to go get the photo - always too many people around for comfort! Brian, however, has unlocked the secret of who owns the model airplane airstrip land, and we'll be revealing that very soon. Thanks Brian!

The road back to Hill Valley today. You can see there's been a lot of buildings added out here, and you can also see how the crew's camera lenses make that distance look much greater. I know this is the opposite side of the road from the screenshot above. But there's another good photo from 2004 below that matches up a little better.

MORE PHOTOS:

Roughly where the Delorean was. (Couldn't put it exactly where it was because a few Model Airmen were drivng up the right side of the road to their field, (top Left))
BTW: This car is an 85 toyota. Notice how they actually ripped off the 82 Deloreans.

Even back in 1985 farmers took better care of their land, though the fence on the right remains exactly identical. When you visit you can even match them to screenshots by their angle!

This is where they put the Billboard when filming took place. You can see the model Airplane fest going on in the background on the left side..

There's still a little bit of gravel left from where the filming crew added it. You can only find it spread right around that area and there is no gravel left anywhere else. Makes a good souvenier! Update Jan 30 05: The Gravel is nearly gone, washed into the pond by recent heavy rainfall! Visit soon!
